Balasore clash

Balasore: A dispute over unpaid money escalated into violence between two families in the Baharda slum under Basta police limits in Balasore district, leaving 12 people injured, including four women.

The injured were initially treated at Basta before being shifted to Balasore District Headquarters Hospital for advanced care.

The conflict began over a business transaction involving Rs 8,000, which Sk Ramzan owed to Sk Suraj. Suraj had repeatedly demanded the outstanding amount, leading to rising tensions. The dispute came to a head at Gandhi Chhak, where a confrontation between the two parties turned chaotic.

Basta police intervened, mediated the situation, and sent everyone back to their homes. However, the unrest flared up again later, resulting in a second round of violence. Police have since arrived at the slum and are investigating the incident to ascertain further details and maintain order.
