Sambalpur: Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) in Burla at Sambalpur, has introduced a mandatory uniform dress code for its first-year undergraduate students starting from the 2025-2026 academic session. The new policy aims to promote uniformity, safety, and professionalism among students.
According to the notification issued on the instructions of the Vice-Chancellor and signed by the Registrar, male students are required to wear formal pants and shirts, while female students can choose between formal pants and shirts or salwar-kameez with a waistcoat.
Notably, dupattas are prohibited for female students due to safety concerns. The dress code specifies navy blue for pants, salwar, and waistcoats, and sky blue for shirts.
The order specifically excludes postgraduate (PG) and doctoral (Ph.D.) students.
The administration has announced that compliance with the dress code will be closely monitored, and students failing to adhere to the prescribed attire may face disciplinary consequences. Students have been given until the end of August 2025 to arrange for their uniforms.
“All the 1st year students (except P.G. and Ph.D.) who have taken admission in the academic year 2025-26 are hereby informed that a uniform dress code is introduced in the University. The uniform is ‘formal pant and shirt’ for boys; and either ‘formal pant and shirt’ or “shalwar kameez with waistcoat’ for girls. No dupatta is permitted due to safety reasons.” read the notification.
