Jharsuguda: In a heart-warming reunion, Dr. Swekruti Mohapatra, an Odia doctor who survived the devastating landslide in Wayanad of Kerala, returned to her home at Beheramal in Jharsuguda after a month-long ordeal.
Dr. Mohapatra, who was injured and traumatized in the disaster, was accompanied by her sister as she arrived home after receiving treatment at Dr. Mopen’s Medical College in Wayanad.
Her family members were overjoyed to be reunited with their beloved daughter, expressing gratitude and relief. She has come back home after defeating death, said a family member with tears of happiness streaming down their face.
Dr. Mohapatra had attended a conference in Bengaluru on July 26 before travelling to Wayanad with three friends. The landslide on July 29 left hundreds missing including Mohapatra. She was rescued in a critical condition and was hospitalised.
While Dr. Mohapatra survived, her friend Dr. Bishnuprasad Chinara tragically lost his life in the disaster. Her villagers welcomed Dr. Mohapatra’s return.
