Weather Alert: Odisha To Witness Intense Rainfall For Next 3 Days

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department has forecasted a continuation of light to moderate rainfall with thundershowers throughout the state for the next seven days, according to its mid-day bulletin.

Amidst the formation of low pressure over the area adjoining the Bay of Bengal, Gangetic West Bengal, and Bangladesh, the rainfall activities in the state are likely to remain intense for the next three days, as stated in the IMD report.

The weather office has reported the occurrence of light to moderate rainfall at many places over the coastal regions, and at a few places in interior Odisha today.

The highest maximum temperature of 35.0°C was recorded at Paralakhemundi, and the lowest minimum temperature of 23.0°C was recorded at Phulbani and Nabarangpur.

Here is the IMD’s weather forecast and warning for the districts of Odisha:

Day 1 (Valid until 08:30 hrs IST of 01.08.2024): Light to moderate rain/thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jajpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Bargarh, and Jagatsinghpur.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 01.08.2024 to 08:30 hrs IST of 02.08.2024): Light to moderate rain/thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Boudh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, and heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bhadrak, Balasore, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Bolangir, Nuapada, Nayagarh, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Kalahandi.

Day 3 (Valid from 08:30 hrs IST of 02.08.2024 to 08:30 hrs IST of 03.08.2024): Light to moderate rain/thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of North Odisha and at many places over the districts of South Odisha.

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, and Deogarh.

Day 4 (Valid from 08:30 hrs IST of 03.08.2024 to 08:30 hrs IST of 04.08.2024): Light to moderate rain/thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of North Interior Odisha and at a few places over the rest of the districts of Odisha.

Day 5 (Valid from 08:30 hrs IST of 04.08.2024 to 08:30 hrs IST of 05.08.2024): Light to moderate rain/thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Odisha.

Day 6 (Valid from 08:30 hrs IST of 05.08.2024 to 08:30 hrs IST of 06.08.2024): Light to moderate rain/thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of North Coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Khurda, Nayagarh, Puri, and at a few places over the rest of the districts of Odisha.

Day 7 (Valid from 08:30 hrs IST of 06.08.2024 to 08:30 hrs IST of 07.08.2024): Light to moderate rain/thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Odisha.
