Bhubaneswar: Rainfall activity is likely to increase throughout Odisha, amidst a likely formation of a cyclonic circulation over Jharkhand adjoining the northern region of Odisha on July 6, forecasted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
According to the Sunday mid-day bulletin of IMD, the districts of Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Nayagarh, Puri, and Jagatsinghpur are most likely to experience heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) from 8:30 am on August 6.
The weather office also predicted a likely occurrence of thunderstorms and lightning at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, and Rayagada.
The IMD has issued a ‘Yellow Warning’ for the aforementioned districts, warning people against the chances of heavy rain.
Under the influence of a developing deep depression, some parts of the districts of Cuttack (including Cuttack city), Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Balasore, and Jajpur have received one or two spells of intense/heavy rainfall today.
The state is likely to witness a significant increase in rainfall activities in the upcoming three days. In urban areas, low-lying areas may experience waterlogging, and roads and drains may be submerged under water, alerted IMD.
