Bhubaneswar: The regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar has issue an orange alert for moderate rain/ thundershowers in some parts of Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, and Malkangiri within the next three hours.
The weather office has further warned of water logging in low-lying areas, occasionally poor visibility and traffic disruption in urban. People have been advised to avoid movement in the affected areas and make arrangement for drainage of excess water.
In yet another weather warning issued at 1.15 pm, the IMD has issued a yellow alert for light to moderate rain/thundershowers with lightning in some parts of Puri, Rayagada, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, and Nuapada within the next three hours. People are advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to avoid lightning strikes.
