Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure area over the southeast Bay of Bengal and adjacent equatorial Indian Ocean has intensified into a well-marked low-pressure area, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The system is expected to move west-northwestwards towards north Odisha over the next 48 hours. However, it’s not likely to have a direct impact on Odisha.
Uma Shankar Dash, a weather scientist took to X to share the latest update on the low-pressure formation, stating, “The low-pressure zone created in the South-Eastern Bay of Bengal and the adjacent Equatorial nearby region of the Eastern Indian Ocean has further intensified and today, at 5:30, has turned into a well-marked low pressure area in the same region.”
The IMD is keeping a close eye on the system, and further updates are awaited.
