Bhubaneswar: A sudden whirlwind created panic and disrupted arrangements at the BCGCL project inauguration site in Adhapara under Lakhanpur block of Jharsuguda district on Saturday, shortly before the scheduled ceremony.
Strong gusty winds swept across the venue, damaging several temporary structures erected for the event. Tents set up for food stalls and electronic equipment were uprooted and scattered, leaving the area in disarray within minutes.
According to reports, the sudden change in weather triggered chaos at the site, as strong winds lifted lightweight materials and caused confusion among people present. However, there were no reports of any injuries or casualties.
Several dignitaries, including Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy, Minister of State Satish Chandra Dubey, Member of Parliament Pradeep Purohit, and IG (Northern Range) Himanshu Kumar Lal, were present in the vicinity for the inauguration programme when the incident occurred.
Despite the disruption, the main inaugural stage remained intact and was not affected by the whirlwind.
