Bhubaneswar: Mystery shrouds the death of Odia teleserial actor Rashmirekha Ojha who was found hanging in her house at Gadasahi here at Nayapali on Monday. However, the police have ruled out any foul play following a preliminary probe.
DCP Prateek Singh said, a suicide note recovered from Rashmirekha house read – ‘not to hold anyone responsible for her death’. “The matter was reported to Nayapali police by the father of the deceased. We opened her house in his presence and found the body hanging. The family has not levelled any allegations so far,” he said.
The DCP added, “The woman used her dupatta to hang herself from the ceiling and prima facie it appears to be a case of suicide. No external injuries were found during the inquest. However, the autopsy report is awaited to ascertain the exact cause of death.”
Rashmirekha was staying at this place for the last two months with a friend who was not present in the house during the mishap. Singh said that the investigating officer of this case is in constant touch with the friend of the deceased and he would be in the city in a day.
“We will be examining the friend of the deceased with whom she was staying, once he is here. Besides, other associates and acquaintances of the deceased will also be quizzed to dig deeper into the case,” the DCP said, adding that Rashmirekha was supposedly a victim of depression.
The house owner was also questioned and he did not point at anything suspicious or abnormal during Rashmirekha’s stay over the last two months, added Singh. Nayapali police have registered a case of unnatural death and investigating further.
