Deogarh: One person was killed and five others including  a woman were injured in wild boar attack in Sargidihi village under the Laimura section of the Deogarh forest range on Thursday.

According to reports, a wild boar strayed from a nearby forest and entered the human settlement, causing panic among the residents.

The wild boar first attacked a woman, prompting her to scream for help. Hearing her cries, other villagers rushed to the scene. However, the agitated animal turned on them, attacking five more individuals.

Among the injured was Tularam Kalo, whose condition was critical due to severe blood loss. He was initially taken to the Deogarh District Headquarters Hospital and later referred to VIMSAR (Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research), Burla for advanced treatment.

However, Tularam succumbed to his injuries on the way to VIMSAR.

The other injured, including the woman, were treated at the Tileibani Community Health Centre and Sub Divisional Hospital, Kuchinda.

Forest department officials have reached the spot and are making efforts to capture the wild boar to prevent further incidents.
