Bhubaneswar: A person was killed after being attacked by a rogue elephant at Badakhali village under Banarapali block in Angul district.
The deceased has been identified as Bijan Dakua, a resident of Badakhali village.
According to reports, Bijan was going to his field on Saturday morning when the wild elephant suddenly attacked him and trampled him to death.
Following Bijan’s death, his family and villagers staged a protest demanding compensation for the loss and better security measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
Meanwhile, the forest department has assured the family of providing the prescribed compensation and promised to address the concerns of the locals.
