Dhenkanal: An elderly man identified as Fakir Mohan Behera was trampled to death by a wild elephant here on Sunday morning. The incident took place at Gopalpur village under Kapilash forest range.
The man was attacked by an elephant at around 5 am when he had gone into a farm to attend the nature’s call. He was attacked and killed on the spot by the tusker.
Local police and forest officials rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation. A case has been registered in this regard, and deceased’s body was sent for autopsy.
