Bhubaneswar: After a brief lull, Odisha is once again experiencing the winter. The regional center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar said on Monday that with a significant fall in the minimum temperature (night temperature) in the last 24 hours, more than 15 places recorded temperatures below 15°C on Sunday.
Several areas in Koraput and Kandhamal districts recorded minimum temperatures of below 10°C last night. G Udayagiri was the coldest at 7.5°C. The minimum temperature in Koraput recorded was 8.3°C, Daringbadi and Phulbani recorded 9.5°C and 10°C, respectively, followed by Angul at 11°C, Nabarangpur and Kirei at 11.4°C, and Semiliguda at 11.5°C.
The minimum temperature dropped by 2°C-3°C in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar (16.2°C) and Cuttack (15°C).
According to the weather office, the weather is likely to remain chill during the next 3-4 days. In general, the weather will remain dry across Odisha during this period.
Meanwhile, dense fog occurred in several places of the state reducing visibility to 50-200 meters. The IMD has issued fog alerts for several places in Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, and Sundargarh districts.
