Jharsuguda: A dramatic incident unfolded today when a young woman accidentally fell into the Mahanadi river from the Rampela bridge connecting Jharsuguda and Sambalpur.
The woman, Sabitri Meher, a resident of Itabhata near Brajrajnagar, managed to swim to a submerged temple in the river and climb onto it, saving her life.
The Banarpali police and local fishermen sprang into action, rescuing her with the help of a boat. Meher was then taken to a local hospital, where her condition is reported to be stable.
