Bhubaneswar: A woman was among two persons who sustained serious injuries after being attacked by miscreants with a knife near Old Station Bazar Square under Laxmisagar police station limits in Bhubaneswar late Monday night.
The injured have been identified as Uday Kiran, a betel shop owner, and the woman who sustained injuries while trying to intervene during the attack.
According to reports, the incident took place when Kiran was closing his shop and was returning home. At that time, some miscreants allegedly attacked him. Hearing the commotion, the woman rushed to his rescue, following which she was also attacked by the accused persons.
Both victims suffered severe head injuries in the knife attack and were immediately rescued and shifted to Capital Hospital for treatment.
After receiving information about the incident, Laxmisagar police reached the spot and started an investigation. Police are examining CCTV footage from the area to identify and apprehend the persons involved in the attack.
