Woman Arrested For Killing Five-Year-Old Daughter In Subarnapur

Subarnapur: In a shocking incident, a mother was arrested for allegedly strangling her five-year-old daughter with a saree in Kotsalai village under Birmaharajpur police station. The arrest was made two months after the incident, which occurred on February 24.

According to the police, the mother, Ashalata Mohapatra, was angry after having a bad dream and allegedly killed her daughter when no one was at home. The child’s death was initially registered as an unnatural death, and an autopsy was conducted. The post-mortem report revealed that the child died due to suffocation.

The police investigated the case and gathered evidence, leading to Ashalata’s arrest. She reportedly confessed to the crime during the police investigation. The arrested woman was produced in court, and further investigation is underway.

The Sub-divisional Police Officer revealed the details of the incident in a press conference.
