Bhubaneswar: A woman attempted self-immolation due to a family dispute in Kankarailo village under Salipur block in Cuttack district, on Tuesday.
The woman, identified as Tilottama Rout, was initially treated at Salipur Community Health Centre (CHC).
According to Salipur CHC Chief Medical Officer Dr Bijay Kumar Pradhan, the patient is in a critical condition.
“She has sustained approximately 60 percent burn injuries. We have dressed her wounds, administered injections, and arranged for a 108 ambulance. She has been immediately referred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. The patient stated that she used kerosene for the act, and the smell of kerosene is evident. The police will conduct an inquiry into the matter,” Dr. Pradhan told reporters.
Upon receiving the information, police arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
