Bhubaneswar: A 28-year-old woman was allegedly beaten to death by her husband, who suspected her of having an extramarital affair at Ghunghuti village under the Sadar police limits in Jharsuguda district late on Saturday night.

The deceased was identified as Soudamini Kisan (28), while the accused, Rahul Bag (28), has been detained by police for questioning.

According to reports, the couple reportedly had a heated argument at their residence on Saturday night. During the altercation, Rahul allegedly attacked Soudamini with a wooden stick after suspecting her of being involved in an extramarital relationship. She sustained grievous injuries and died on the spot.

After receiving information about the incident, a police team reached the village on Sunday, recovered the body, and sent it for post-mortem examination. Further investigation is underway.
