Kendujhar: In a shocking incident, a man was shot dead by miscreants near Khuntapada under Turumunga police limits in Kendujhar district.
The deceased has been identified as Trilochan Mohanta (42), a resident of Khajirapashi village under Turumunga police station. He was the husband of a woman constable.
According to information, Trilochan was running a Jan Seva Kendra near Kendeipashi Chhak. He was returning home towards Patana on his bike after closing his shop at around 11 pm on Monday night when miscreants, who were already hiding near a deserted stretch at Khuntapada, suddenly opened fire at him. Trilochan sustained bullet injuries and collapsed at the spot in a pool of blood. The assailants fled the scene after the crime.
On being informed, police from Turumunga and Patana stations rushed to the spot, seized the body and sent it for post-mortem. Police have started investigation from different angles to ascertain whether the murder was a result of past enmity or was carried out with an intent of loot. Checking has been intensified in nearby areas to nab the absconding accused.
