Sundargarh: An Assistant Executive Engineer (EEE) in Tangarpali block of Odisha’s Sundargarh district allegedly molested a woman at his government quarters on Wednesday evening.

The victim has complained to the Lephripara police station against the accused engineer, identified as Umesh Nayak.

In her complaint, the woman alleged that Nayak had asked her to cook at his residence. As soon as she entered the kitchen, he groped her and tried to rape her. According to the complaint, the accused even tore her clothes.

Shocked at the developments, the woman shouted for help and left the spot pushing Nayak away. Hearing her cries for help, locals gathered at AEE’s quarter and asked him to come out of the house. Nayak, however, locked himself in his room and stayed indoors.

The Lephripara police have started an investigation into the matter.
