Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a woman was critically injured after being shot at by her son at Kalasa Khaman village under Banigochha police limits in Nayagarh district on Saturday.
The injured woman identified as Duhita Pradhan who was initially rushed to Daspalla Community Health Centre (CHC) has been shifted to the district headquarters hospital at Nayagarh as her health condition deteriorated.
The accused has been identified as Susant Pradhan, Duhita’s elder son.
According to reports, Duhita’s elder son Susant today had a fight with his younger brother Sagar for some unknown reason. During the fight took out a country-made pistol and pointed it at Sagar.
Their mother Duhita tried to stop Susant but by the time the latter had pulled the trigger and the bullet pierced Duhita.
Villagers rescued Duhita and rushed her to Daspalla CHC. Later she was shifted to the district headquarters hospital at Nayagarh as her condition deteriorated.
Banigochha police have launched an investigation into the incident and nabbed accused Susant.
