Bhubaneswar: In a gruesome incident, a woman died after she was crushed by a rice harvester in Kanpur village under Soso police limits in Odisha’s Keonjhar district on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Anita Khamari, wife of Vijay Khamari of the village.
According to reports, the gory accident occurred on Thursday when the villagers in Kanpur hired a threshing machine and all the villagers collected there to thresh their grains. Anita also went there to thresh paddy and grind rice. While pouring the paddy into the machine, her saree got stuck into the machine, crushing her to death on the spot.
On being informed, Fire Services personnel reached the village and rescued her body from the thresher machine.
A pall of gloom descended on the village as the news of Anita’s death spread.
