Bhubaneswar: A young woman died after allegedly setting herself on fire by pouring ‘kerosene’ over herself at Shantinagar Lane-5 under Badabazar police station in Brahmapur on Wednesday.
The woman, who was a resident of the area, sustained critical burn injuries in the incident. She was initially rushed for treatment and was later being shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack due to her deteriorating condition.
However, she succumbed to her injuries while being taken to the hospital, reports said. The exact reason behind the woman’s extreme step is yet to be ascertained.
Upon receiving information, a team from Badabazar police station reached the spot and initiated an investigation.
