Balangir: A woman from Kantabanji area died allegedly due to medical negligence in the maternity wing of the Balangir District Headquarters Hospital, triggering tension and a protest by her family inside the hospital premises.
The deceased has been identified as Manjulata Behera of Ashram Pada in Kantabanji area.
According to the allegations brought by the deceased’s family members, Manjulata complained of labour pain three days ago and was first taken to the Kantabanji Hospital. Doctors there informed that the foetus had died in the womb and referred her to Balangir for further treatment.
The family alleged that after she was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital at Balangir, she did not receive the required medical care. Following the death, tension erupted in the hospital.
Tension ran high at the hospital after the deceased’s family members placed the body outside the hospital and staged a demonstration demanding justice.
On being informed, Balangir Police reached the spot and were seen pacifying the aggrieved family members till the last report came in.
