Woman Hacked To Death

Bhadrak: A woman was allegedly hacked to death by her husband at Parapokhari village under Basudevpur police station limits in Bhadrak district late on Saturday night.

The deceased has been identified as Gurubari Jena (33), the second wife of Gopinath Jena. The couple had three children—an elder daughter who is already married and two sons.

According to reports, the incident came to light on Sunday morning when the couple’s minor son called out to his mother to open the family-run shop. When she did not respond, he approached her and noticed blood on his hand after touching her. Alarmed, he immediately informed other family members.

Family members rushed to the scene and discovered Gurubari lying in a pool of blood with multiple injuries on her head and face. A sharp cut was visible on her head and an axe was found lying next to her body.

Meanwhile, the couple’s elder daughter, Kunilata, has alleged that her father, Gopinath Jena, murdered her mother over a monetary dispute.

Upon receiving the information, police reached the spot and began an investigation into the matter.

Further details are awaited.
