Woman Journalist Among Two Killed As Bus Rams Into Scooter On Bhubaneswar-Puri Highway

Bhubaneswar: A woman journalist was among two were killed when a private bus rammed into a scooter on the Bhubaneswar-Puri National Highway at Jamalpura Square near Mangalpur under Pipili police station on Tuesday.

The deceased woman journalist has been identified as Sheela Pattanayak, while the other victim’s identity is yet to be confirmed.

According to reports, the women were traveling from Bhubaneswar to Puri on a scooter when the accident happened. The scooter slipped on a sand pile on the road, and a bus traveling behind hit it from the rear.  The accident was so severe that the scooter was dragged about 20 meters. As a result, Sheela died on the spot, while the other was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead.

Pipili police have seized both the vehicles involved in the accident and launched an investigation into the incident.
