Koraput: In a tragic incident, a woman was killed and 20 others were critically injured when the pick-up van in which they were travelling skidded off a culvert and plunged down on the Chadheipani ghati in Haldikund panchayat under Baipariguda police limits in Koraput district today.
The deceased woman has been identified as Raimati Bhumia (35) of Malda village in Jayantagiri panchayat. The injured have been shifted to the district headquarters hospital at Jeypore.
According to reports, a few people of Malda village under Borigumma police limits were on their way to Gupteswar shrine for darshan in a pick-up van. However, the pick-up van skidded off the road on the Chadeipani ghati due to brake failure and plunged deep down, resulting in the death of the woman and leaving over 20 injured.
