Kendrapara: A woman was killed and four others were seriously injured in a group clash over a property dispute between two families of Sangrampur village under Rajkanika police limits in Kendrapara district on Wednesday.

The deceased woman has been identified as Sushila Nayak, sister of Panchanan Nayak.

According to reports, Panchanan Nayak of Sangrampur village and his neighbour Sunakar Nayak had a longstanding dispute over landed property. Though the two families had knocked on the doors of the police station several times, however, the dispute could not be resolved.

The two families had an altercation over the issue in the afternoon. Later, it got ugly and the two families clashed with each other.

A total of five persons from both sides were injured in the clash. All were admitted to the Rajkanika Community Health Centre (CHC).

As the health condition of Panchanan’s sister Sushila Nayak and two others deteriorated they were shifted to the district headquarters hospital here.

While undergoing treatment Sushila died, and the condition of two others was critical.

Police have launched an investigation into the matter.
