Sambalpur: A 34-year-old woman was killed after a speeding truck allegedly veered off the road and crashed into her house at Padiabahal village under the Sadar police station limits in Sambalpur district on Tuesday morning.
The victim, identified as Deepanjali Bhoi (34), was breastfeeding her infant when the accident occurred.
According to reports, the incident took place at around 6.40 am when Deepanjali was inside her house feeding her baby. The truck reportedly lost control, rammed into the house, and overturned, fatally injuring her. She died on the spot.
Hearing the impact, villagers rushed to the scene and rescued the infant from the damaged house. The child was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Sambalpur for treatment and is reported to be safe.
After being informed, police reached the spot, recovered the body, and sent it for post-mortem examination. The truck was seized, and an investigation has been launched to ascertain the circumstances that led to the accident.
