Malkangiri: A woman died and her husband sustained critical injuries after they were struck by lightning in Odisha’s Malkangiri district on Thursday, local sources said.
The incident took place at Maharaja Palli village under Kalimela block when the couple was working in an agricultural field. Lightning reportedly struck a nearby Mahua tree, severely affecting both of them.
The woman, identified as Enki Madkami (35), died on the spot in front of her husband, sources said.
Her husband, Bhima Madkami (37), sustained serious injuries in the incident and was rushed to the MV-79 Health Centre for treatment. His condition was stated to be critical.
