Bhubaneswar: A woman was trampled to death by a rogue elephant at Tileipasi village under Riamal forest range in Deogarh district in the wee hours of Tuesday.
The deceased, identified as Pooja Mahar, was attacked by the elephant while she was out for morning ablutions.
According to reports, Pooja’s husband, Jitu Mahar, and their three children narrowly escaped the elephant’s attack.
The incident has created tension in the village, with residents expressing concern over the increasing human-wildlife conflict in the area.
Upon being informed, a team of police and forest department officials rushed to the village to take stock of the situation and pacify the villagers.
