Deogarh: A woman was seriously injured in an elephant attack at Siarimalia village under the Riamal forest range in Deogarh forest division on Monday.
The injured woman has been identified as Mandakini Behera. She has been admitted to the district headquarters hospital here with a fractured leg and injuries at several places on her body.
According to reports a 11-member herd of elephants had strayed into Siarimalia village in the morning today. Mandakini who was passing through the road was attacked by a tusker. Hearing her cries for help fellow villagers rushed to rescue her. Later with the help of Forest Department staff, she was rushed to the hospital.
