Rayagada: A woman and her son at Jemadeipentha village under Seskhal police limits of Rayagada district committed suicide after not being able to pay back a loan of around Rs 15 to 20 lakh.
The deceased identified as Gudla Rajini (55) and her 22-year-old son Gudla Shyam had reportedly borrowed the money for his sister’s marriage and other expenses. Unable to repay the amount, they consumed pesticide on Friday night.
While locals rushed them to the district headquarters hospital late last night, Shyam died during treatment at around 4 am today and Rajini breathed her last at around 8 am.
As per the last reports, a case in this regard was registered at Seskhal Police Station and the investigation is underway.
