Bhubaneswar: A mother and her four-year-old son succumbed to a venomous snakebite in the early hours of Wednesday at Badachua village under Mahulpada police station in Sundargarh district’s Bonai sub-division.

According to reports, Rath Kulu, his wife Tulasi Kulu, and their young son Avinash were sleeping in their home when a poisonous snake bit both Tulasi and Avinash at around 3 am. After realizing it, Rath Kulu rushed his wife and son to Bonai Sub-Divisional Hospital for treatment.

Unfortunately, Kulu’s son Avinash was declared dead at the hospital, while Tulasi was referred to Rourkela Government Hospital for further treatment. Tragically, Tulasi also died while being taken to Rourkela for treatment.

This incident has brought immense grief to the Badachua village, and the community is still reeling from the shock.

Notably, this is not an isolated incident. As many as 12 persons have died due to snakebites in Sundargarh district alone within the last two months.
