Woman, Son Killed In Lightning Strikes In Bolangir; CM Mohan Majhi Announces Rs 4 Lakh Ex-Gratia

Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, a woman and her son were killed in lightning strikes while they were working in their cotton field in Khaprakhol of Bolangir district.

The brother-in-law of the deceased woman was also critically injured after being struck by lightning. He was admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The deceased woman and son have been identified as Suryakanti Kharsel and 18-year-old son Dipak. The injured was Purandar Kharsel.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed grief over the tragic incident and announced Rs 4 lakh ex-gratia compensation for the kin of the deceased.

Majhi also directed the district administration to ensure proper treatment for the injured.

The CM expressed condolences to the bereaved family.

Earlier, three persons were killed in a similar incident in Padampur area of Bargarh district. The CM also announced Rs 4 lakh compensation for next to the kin of each deceased.
