Dhenkanal: A woman was killed after being trampled by a tusker in Tamanda village under the Hindol forest range early Tuesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Sushma Pradhan.
According to reports, she was walking with her husband and their seven-year-old daughter to nearby Khuntujhari village when they encountered a roaming elephant. The tusker dragged Pradhan with its trunk and trampled her, while her husband and daughter narrowly escaped.
On receiving the information, Bhapur outpost police and forest officials rushed to the site and recovered the body for further investigation.
Forest authorities are monitoring the area to prevent further incidents.
