Worker Killed, Another Critical In Lighting Strike In Nabarangpur

Bhubaneswar: A person was killed and another was seriously injured in a lightning strike in Bariguda under Papadahandi police station in Nabarangpur district.

Four others were injured in the mishap. The deceased has been identified as Somnath Jani. The seriously injured person, Praveen Harijan, has been shifted to the Nabarangpur District Headquarters Hospital in critical condition via ‘108’ ambulance.

Six workers from Bariguda village had gone to Baliaguda village to work in a brick kiln when the incident occurred during a thunderstorm with lightning in the afternoon.

The lightning struck at 3:30 pm, resulting in Somnath’s death on the spot. Four people were shifted to the hospital in an ambulance. Papadahandi police reached the spot and launched an investigation after receiving information.
