Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a working woman was allegedly abducted, tied up, and brutally gang-raped by a group of youths in Jajpur town area. Even though the incident took place on the night of April 22, it came to light on April 26.
According to the victim’s complaint, she was waiting for a vehicle to go home at Gandhi Chhak when an auto driver offered to drop her near her house. However, the auto driver and two youths already inside the vehicle had other intentions. They took her to a deserted place on the outskirts of the town, where three more drunken youths were waiting. The woman was allegedly raped, beaten, and stabbed with a knife.
The victim somehow managed to escape and sought help from a nearby resident, who informed her family. She was admitted to Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital in a critical condition with severe injuries on her back, hands, and other parts of her body.
The police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. The accused still remain at large. The incident has sparked widespread outrage in Jajpur.
