Bhubaneswar: Odisha Works Minister Prithviraj Harichandan on Tuesday chaired an important joint review meeting with the Works Department and Housing & Urban Development Department at his office in Lok Seva Bhawan to strengthen the state’s urban infrastructure.
In the first phase of the initiative, a new blueprint has been prepared for the comprehensive transformation of roads in 10 major cities of the state — Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, Berhampur, Balasore, Balangir, Sambalpur, Bhawanipatna, Keonjhar, and Jajpur.
Speaking after the meeting, Minister Prithviraj Harichandan said a special three-year road map has been finalised with special focus on the construction of bypasses in these cities and better connectivity with main roads.
The meeting also discussed in detail the adoption of modern road safety systems to ensure safe and smooth movement of passengers. “This initiative will make the urban transport system of the state more systematic, efficient and modern,” the Minister added.
The high-level review meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department, Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary, Public Works Department, Sanjay Kumar Singh, and Special Secretary Laxmikant Padhi, among other senior officials.
