Yellow Alert For Dense Fog In Several Odisha Districts; Colder Nights Likely Ahead

Bhubaneswar: Even as the minimum temperatures (night temperatures) observed an appreciable fall in several places across Odisha in the last 24 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued a yellow alert for dense fog in several districts of the state during the next three days.

Meanwhile, shallow to moderate fog occurred at a few places in Odisha with dense fog at one or two places in Cuttack, Sonepur, and Kandhamal.

Minimum temperatures observed appreciable fall at a few places in north coastal Odisha and one or two places in north interior Odisha. The minimum temperature is very likely to fall by 2°C to 3°C during the next 24 hours at a few places in Odisha and no large change thereafter, the weather office forecast.

The highest maximum temperature of 32.8°C was recorded at Paralakhemundi and the lowest minimum temperature of 11.7°C was recorded at Rourkela in the plains of Odisha.

Weather forecast and warning for districts of Odisha:

Day 1 (Valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 13.01.2024)

Dry weather is very likely to prevail over the districts of Odisha. Shallow to moderate fog is very likely to occur at a few places in south coastal Odisha, Koraput, Kandhamal, Cuttack, Kalahandi, Angul, Dhenkanal, and at one or two places in the remaining districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Dense fog is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput, Kandhamal, Cuttack, Kalahandi, Angul, and Dhenkanal.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 13.01.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 14.01.2024)

Dry weather is very likely to prevail over the districts of Odisha. Shallow to moderate fog is very likely to occur at a few places in south coastal Odisha, Koraput, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, and at one or two places in the districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Dense fog is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Bhadrak.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 14.01.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 15.01.2024)

Dry weather is very likely to prevail over the districts of Odisha. Shallow to moderate fog is very likely to occur at a few places in Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Angul, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Cuttack and at one or two in the rest districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Dense fog is very likely to occur at one or two places in Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Angul, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, and Cuttack.
