Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure is likely to develop in the Bay of Bengal on Friday but it will have insignificant impact on Odisha, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said today. However, several places across the state may experience light to moderate rain accompanied by lightning during the next three days.
The low-pressure area is likely to cause heavy rainfall in neighbouring West Bengal, Bangladesh and the north-east region of Odisha.
The IMD has issued a yellow warning for light rain in 21 districts of Odisha on Friday. According to the weather office, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Nabarangpur may experience rain today.
While there will be no significant rainfall in Odisha till October 7, the intensity of rain is likely to increase from October 8. While there will be a gradual increase in temperature by 2°C-3°C, humidity will be high across the state owing to the delay in retreating monsoon. The weather will remain mostly dry for the next 10 days across the state.
