Nabarabgpur: In a tragic incident, a young couple allegedly died by suicide in in Siyunaguda village under Jharigaon police limits of Nabarangpur district.

The deceased have been identified as Bhagaban Gauda from Siyunaguda village and Sabita Bhatra from Bhaliaguda village.

The couple was found hanging from a tree approximately one kilometer away from Siyunaguda village. An ‘odhani’ (scarf) was tied around their necks, and their bodies were discovered by locals.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the two were in  love but feared societal disapproval, which may have driven them to take this extreme step. It is also reported that the couple belonged to different communities, which could have added to the pressure they faced.

Family members of both Bhagaban and Sabita stated that the couple had dinner with their families last night and went to sleep as usual.

However, they reportedly left their homes during the night and took their own lives. The families have filed a formal complaint at the Jharigaon police station, and an investigation is currently underway.

Police officials reached the spot and initiated a probe into the incident. The bodies have been sent for postmortem, and further details are awaited.
