Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a young girl student died after falling off a bike while riding with her boyfriend on National Highway 59 near Sitapadi in Kandhamal district, on Thursday.
According to reports, the deceased student was from the Kotgarh police station area and was studying in Phulbani. She had informed her family that she would be returning home on Thursday. She met her boyfriend, a resident of the Belaghar police station area, after reaching Baliguda from Phulbani in a bus. Instead of going home, she went on a ride with her boyfriend on a bike when the road mishap occurred.
She sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Baliguda Hospital for treatment by her boyfriend and locals. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment.
The incident has left the family in shock, who claimed that they were unaware of the relationship between the victim and her boyfriend.
Police detained the boyfriend and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
