Soro: A youth from the Kamarpur Rice Mill area under Soro Municipality in Balasore district was arrested on Friday by the Cuttack Cyber Police Station team.
According to sources, Jitendra Barik, a resident of the area, had established a friendship with a woman from Cuttack district via Facebook. He later developed a physical relationship with her and secretly recorded intimate photos and videos of their private moments. He subsequently used this content to blackmail the woman and extorted a total of ₹90,000 from her at different times.
After repeatedly being blackmailed, the woman, distressed by the ordeal, lodged a complaint at the Cuttack Cyber Police Station. Following this, a case was registered and an investigation was initiated.
This afternoon, upon receiving information about Jitendra’s presence in Soro, the Cyber Police reached Soro Police Station and, with the help of local police, arrested him from his residence at night. He was then taken to Soro Police Station and later brought to Cuttack by the cyber team, sources confirmed.
