Bhubaneswar: Mancheswar police under Bhubaneswar Urban Police District (UPD) have arrested a 30-year-old youth for allegedly stabbing five persons including a police constable with a knife on Friday.
The accused has been identified as Deepak Naik of Sriramnagar under Mancheswar police limits.
“A team of the Mancheswar police while on patrolling duty on the intervening night of October 3-4 was witness to a scuffle between some youths. The police team tried to disengage them and in the process an OAPF constable was attacked by one youth with a sharp object. The youth was overpowered by the police. An FIR has been lodged at Mancheswar police station in this connection. The accused has been arrested and he will be forwarded to court,” informed Bhubaneswar DCP Pinak Mishra.
The injured constable has been identified as Gopi Sabar. Others injured in the incident have been identified as Anup Sahu (35), Amit Das (30) and Subhrajit Bihari (35).
Police have seized the weapon of offence, a knife from the accused.
