Bhubaneswar: A youth was arrested while attempting to commit burglary in the VIP Colony of Nayapalli area in the capital city on Monday night.
The suspect was trying to steal from multiple duplexes in the area and was spotted by a security guard, who raised an alarm when he attempted to flee by climbing a house wall.
The homeowner quickly contacted the police, and a PCR van from Nayapalli police station arrived at the scene, apprehending him with the help of locals. The police are currently interrogating him.
In a related incident, a burglary occurred on the night of January 26 at the residence of senior Congress leader and former Minister Niranjan Patnaik, located in the same Nayapalli area. Cash and ornaments worth lakhs were stolen from his residence.
