Bhubaneswar: A shocking incident unfolded in Berhampur, where a youth attempted self-immolation by pouring petrol on himself and setting himself ablaze at Methu Chhak under Bada Bazar police station in the city. The reason behind this drastic step remains unclear.
Quick action by the police rescued Suraj Sahoo, who sustained at least 60% burns, and he was rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital. He is currently admitted to the special burn ward, fighting for his life.
Berhampur Superintendent of Police (SP) and senior police officials visited the spot and later rushed to the hospital to inquire about Suraj’s condition. The officials also questioned his family members to understand the circumstances leading to this incident.
