Youth Attempts Suicide At Bargarh Railway Station, Survives

Bargarh: A youth reportedly attempted to take his own life by jumping in front of a moving train at Bargarh railway station.

As per reports, the incident occurred late Tuesday night when Lalit Debata, a resident of Remta village under Barapali police station, suddenly rushed towards the train, shouting ‘He Samaleswari Maa, save me’ as it approached the station. The video of Debata attempting suicide has gone viral.

Debata, who was waiting at the station with others, ran onto the tracks, and was hit by the train. Miraculously, he survived, but suffered severe injuries on left leg. Doctors had to amputate his left leg.  He is currently undergoing treatment at Burla Medical College and Hospital.

Till the last report came, Government Railway Police is yet to file a case in this connection, and the exact circumstances leading to the attempted suicide remain unclear.
