Bonai (Sundargarh): A 29-year-old man allegedly beat his father to death with a wooden plank following a quarrel at Barsuan Baunkala village under Lahunipada police limits in Sundargarh district, police said on Monday.
The accused, identified as Kishore Munda (29), has been detained for questioning at the Lahunipara police station. The deceased, Ram Munda (55), was found dead after the alleged assault late Sunday night.
According to reports, a dispute broke out between the father and son over an unspecified issue. In a fit of rage, Kishore allegedly attacked his father with a wooden plank, leading to his death on the spot.
The incident came to light after the younger son of the deceased lodged a complaint with police on Monday. Acting on the complaint, police reached the village, seized the body, and sent it to the morgue at Bonai for post-mortem examination.
A case has been registered and further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the incident, police added.
