Balangir: A dramatic scene unfolded in Khamarmunda village under Puintala police station in Balangir, as a youth climbed a 200-foot-high electricity tower, causing a 6-hour standoff with the police and fire brigade.
The youth, identified as Siddhaswar Bhoi, was eventually brought down and detained by the authorities.
According to reports, Bhoi was uncooperative and refused to listen to the police and fire brigade’s attempts to persuade him to descend. He was admitted to a hospital for treatment.
When questioned about his motives, Bhoi said that he climbed the tower simply because he was mentally upset. He also revealed that he had climbed the tower before and was not afraid to do so again.
